Online Training
Today’s practitioners want training that accommodates their busy schedules and individual learning styles. SVRI is rebuilding its online training program to fill this need. While still being accessible, our online courses are more frequently including video, audio, and interactive tutorials to avoid flat written content as the basis for the course and engage learners on a different level. Asynchronous written discussions facilitated by qualified professionals provide opportunities for practitioners to share their valuable work experiences with each other. Activities are relevant to practitioners wanting to advance their skills. In addition, our staff is able to provide assistance to people new to online courses to ensure a good experience with the technology. If you are new to online learning, please visit our “Is Online Learning For Me?” page to learn more about what to expect.

The next course we anticipate offering is Rehabilitation Ethics in summer 2008. This course will provide ethics credits that are preapproved by CRCC. Vivian Larkin from Auburn University is leading the content development for this course, which will heavily utilize the discussion board to provide practitioners with opportunities to discuss ethical dilemmas in an asynchronous written format.
We also anticipate offering a Vocational Evaluation course in early fall. This course will provide an overview of the basics of vocational evaluation; testing concepts; different types of tests such as achievement, aptitude, and interest; work samples; behavioral observation; and a summary involving critique of vocational evaluation reports. This course will provide valuable information for individuals who refer participants for evaluations, beginning evaluators who want to expand their knowledge, as well as more advanced evaluators who want to learn more about new techniques and brush up on the basics.
Courses on Assistive Technology are also anticipated. If you are looking for courses on specific topics, notify us as this information will be very valuable in determining future offerings.
